Alaska Volcano Observatory

Sample from southwest flank 400’ asl. Stratigraphically below 88VS15. Sparsely porphyritic andesite with phenocrysts of plagioclase (3%, 0.8 x 0.3 mm) in a groundmass of plagioclase, clinopyroxene and orthopyroxene microphenocrysts (60%, 0.5 x 0.1 mm) with about 40% intergranular microcrystalline material. Rare large glomerocrysts of plagioclase.
