Text Description: Sample of lava flow at north end of Black Creek beach. Outcrop consists of large bulbous pillow-like masses, commonly with radial fracture. Fine grained, equigranular andesite with microphenocrysts of plagioclase (0.4 x 0.1 mm) and subordinate pyroxene (0.3 x 0.1 mm) with sparse opaque oxide (0.2 mm). Hypocrystalline groundmass comprises about 50% of the sample. Plagioclase microphenocrysts are clean; they do not contain dusty, reacted, or inclusion rich zones.
