Text Description: Sample of glaciated ice-contact lava 7 km southwest of Douglas and 6 km north northeast of Fourpeaked along the ridge connecting the two. The outcrop is about 2.5 km long and 1 km wide, from 3600 to 5000 feet in elevation, and surrounded by ice. Lava consists of fanning and contorted, often sub-horizontal columns 10 cm in diameter. Porphyritic two-pyroxene andesite. Phenocrysts of plagioclase (30%, up to 1.6 x 0.9 mm), pyroxene (20%, up to 1.1 x 0.5 mm), and opaque Fe-Ti oxides in a matrix of devitrified glass and subordinate microphenocrysts and microlites.
