Text Description: From a 230 cm thick, very fine-grained, water-laid tephra layer with overlaying siltstone and underlying coal. The sample was collected from near the base. Diatom tests were detected with SEM. This thin section (whole-rock thin section) is almost entirely tiny fragments of pumice and bubblewall shards. The grains show minor alteration. Birefringence indicates a few percentages of plagioclase may be present.
