Text Description: A prominent 5-cm thick, fine- to medium-grained, nearly white tephra layer was sampled in a gray siltstone with horizontal and wavy lamina and interbedded fine sandstone. The sandstone may show ripple marks. The siltstone is somewhat carbonaceous near the sharp contacts with FC7. This thin section (whole-rock thin section) shows about 95-97% of glass shards and elongated fragments of pumice. Glass alteration is minimal. Trace hornblende, plagioclase, quartz, and organic material.
