Text Description: |
Only present at Site C of Chester Bluff. At Site C, there are two tephra beds directly above CB, the Coal Creek (CC) and Charley Village (CV) tephra. Both are thin (< 1 cm), diffuse, and discontinuous within massive loess. The exact stratigraphic position of CC in regards to CV is unclear since it was unsuccessfully recollected during this study, although it was likely several centimeters above CV. All three beds are faulted steeply toward the downstream end of the bluff. Generally rich in green amphibole and ortho-pyroxene, and the feldspar grains are commonly zoned. The composition reported was calculated from analyses of two samples: UT1751 and UT1885. |
