Text Description: | Few cm above the HH tephra (UT825 and UT826) at this location. Occurs in most places as a variegated tephra of 2.5Y7/2 pink-cream and 2.5Y6/2 pink grey mixed together, or as lenses of pink-grey within pink-cream. Occurs within silt and in a few places, the layering in the tephra is preserved with the lowest few mm of pinker material that gradually changes upward into a pink-cream. Sharp contact, in one case horizontal, with the pink-grey tephra that is then overlain by reworked tephra. Lower contact sharp, with interfingering with loess. Tephra color contacts sharp. Upper contact with loess sharp to distinct, but sheared in some places. Deformed into pods that are linked by thin fingers of tephra and are up to 10 cm thick. Repetition in the sequence is undoubtedly due to solifluction. |
