Text Description: |
Average composition of samples from Lone Spruce Pond (UA1966) and the soil pit near Cascade Lake (Kathan 2006) (UA1779=1974). The tephra layer appears to be widespread across the landscape in the Ahklun Mountains, directly below the surface organic mat and capping a buried A/B soil horizon. It is typically separated from the underlying Aniakchak tephra by centimeters to decimeters of loess or other nonvolcanic sediment. The sample from Lone Spruce Pond (UA1966) also contains abundant detrital glass. |
