Text Description: Sample collected by T. Plank. Fine ash and soil layer, 4 cm thick. Located above Akutan tephra unit, in middle Hot Springs Valley. Contains organic material (plant roots). Map unit Qtu (Richter et al., 1998). Yielded olivine- and clinopyroxene-hosted melt inclusions; olivine-hosted inclusions shattered during preparation. No whole rock analysis was attempted because of soil contamination.
