Text Description: Sample collected by T. Plank, P. Stelling and K. Grover. Basaltic andesite scoriaceous lapilli. Sampled from lower 20 cm of the Akutan tephra unit, 1600 ybp (Waythomas et al., 1996), section in upper Long Valley. Clast size <1-3 cm. Phenocrysts of plagioclase, clinopyroxene, orthopyroxene, and trace olivine. Map unit Qtu (Richter et al., 1998). Yielded clinopyroxene- and orthopyroxene-hosted melt inclusions.
