Description: The Bulletin of Volcanic Eruptions (1980) noted that during 1978: "This volcano continues to actively steam from its summit crater, and is the most conspicuous steamer in the Katmai region. The steam appears to rise from numerous fumaroles circling the crater rim." This activity does not constitute a volcanic eruption.
