Date Sampled:1994-00-00
Sample Type 1:Lava
Sample Type 2:Dome
Field Lithology:Rhyolite
Text Description:
Rubbly outcrop of platy and blocky pieces of a dome at Site 15. Fine grained, vesicular, holocrystalline, porphyritic with a matrix of cryptocrystalline material, opaque, plagioclase and minor alteration. Plagioclase phenocrysts are up to 3.0 mm and occasionally have sieve textured zones, oscillatory zoning, and/or resorption embayments. Orthopyroxene phenocrysts are up to 0.3 mm. Opaque phenocrysts are up to 0.12 mm. One granular opaque mass may represent a dehydrated phase. 97.9% matrix, 0.8% plagioclase, 0.1% altered phase, 1.2% vesicles.
