Text Description:
Approximately 60’ wide dike trending WNW-ESE cutting through andesite flows in between Sites 8 and 9. Fine-grained, hypocrystalline, porphyritic with a matrix of colorless glass, opaque and plagioclase. Plagioclase phenocrysts (An30 - An60) are up to 2.5 mm and some have sieve textured zones with large, wormy, glass inclusions and complex zoning. Amphibole phenocrysts are up to 1.25 mm with green-brown pleochroism and black coronas; some have opaque inclusions. Orthopyroxene phenocrysts are up to 1 mm and are strongly pleochroic. Opaque phenocrysts are up to 0.3 mm.
