Text Description:
Rubbly outcrop immediately underneath the Dome B at Site 6. Fine-grained, vesicular, locally diktytaxitic, hypocrystalline, intersertal, seriate to glomeroporphyritic with a matrix of dark brown glass, sparse plagioclase and alteration. Plagioclase phenocrysts (An31 - An53) are up to 0.9 mm and some have complex zoning, a few have sieve textured zones, or show repeated episodes of resorption, regrowth and zonation. Orthopyroxene phenocrysts are up to 0.5 mm and some have clinopyroxene rims. Clinopyroxene phenocrysts are up to 0.7 mm and occur in glomeroporphyritic clumps.
