Dike, trending ~N10°W, cutting through silicic material at Site 5. Fine-grained, hypocrystalline, intersertal, intergranular, seriate porphyritic with a matrix of mesostasis, brown glass, opaque, plagioclase and clinopyroxene. Plagioclase phenocrysts (An43 - An57 ,one grain An26) are up to 1.75 mm and complex zoning with prussian blue extinction is common, some have sieve textured intermediate zones, and there are occasional resorption embayments. Orthopyroxene phenocrysts are up to 0.9 mm with occasional clinopyroxene rims. Clinopyroxene phenocrysts are up to 1.8 mm.
