Text Description: Downdropped block from surrounding cliffs at Tanada Peak volcano. Fine grained, holocrystalline, intergranular, seriate porphyritic with a matrix of mesostasis, alteration, opaque, plagioclase, clinopyroxene and orthopyroxene. Plagioclase phenocrysts (An38 - An61) are up to 1.75 mm and commonly have sieve textured zones, oscillatory zoning, and resorbed edges. Orthopyroxene phenocrysts are up to 1.3 mm. Olivine? phenocrysts are now altered and may be surrounded by small pyroxene crystals. Clinopyroxene phenocrysts are up to 0.32 mm. References: ![]() |
