Sample ID:94SJP33
Station ID:94SJP33
Latitude:62.42629281
Longitude:-143.1238022
Datum:NAD83
Date Sampled:1994-00-00
Sample Type 1:Lava
Sample Type 2:Flow
Field Lithology:Andesite
Text Description:
A 15-20’ thick flow with thick rubble zones and a 5-10’ thick massive zone at Site 3. Fine-grained, vesicular, weakly diktytaxitic, holocrystalline, intergranular, seriate porphyritic with a matrix of mesostasis, opaque, clinopyroxene, plagioclase, orthopyroxene?, yellow alteration and calcite. Plagioclase phenocrysts (An35 - An57) are up to 1.2 mm and a few of the larger grains have sieve textured intermediate zones, some have complex zoning, and rarely have resorbed rims or orthopyroxene inclusions. Orthopyroxene phenocrysts are up to 0.65 mm, and display thin clinopyroxene rims, and sparse opaque inclusions. Clinopyroxene phenocrysts are up to 0.15 mm. Opaque phenocrysts are up to 0.7 mm.
