Text Description:
Grab sample from rubble crop on the top of a hill with large boulders 2-4’ in diameter on the west side of Goat Creek. Fine grained, vesicular, holocrystalline, intergranular, seriate porphyritic with a matrix of mesostasis, opaque, plagioclase, clinopyroxene and orthopyroxene. Plagioclase phenocrysts (An38 - An63) are up to 4.37 mm and occasionally have oscillatory zoning, sieve texture with large melt inclusions, and rounded edges. Olivine phenocrysts are up to 0.45 mm and often are rimmed with small orthopyroxene crystals, and occasionally have opaque inclusions. Orthopyroxene phenocrysts are up to 1.5 mm.
