Text Description:
Coarse-grained plagioclase-phyric material that may be a dike at Site 6. Fine-grained, hypocrystalline, porphyritic to glomeroporphyritic with a matrix of mesostasis, opaque, and plagioclase. Plagioclase phenocrysts (An57-An58) are up to 5.6 mm and are frequently sieve textured throughout with occasional thin overgrowth rims. Clinopyroxene phenocrysts are up to 0.6 mm and often in glomeroporphyritic clusters with plagioclase. Olivine phenocrysts are 2.0-0.2 mm and frequently have rounded edges, and a few have opaque or plagioclase inclusions. Mode: 82.7% matrix, 14.4% plagioclase, 2.2% olivine, 0.7% clinopyroxene.
