SAMPLE INFO : 93SJP14B
Sample ID:93SJP14B
Station ID:93SJP14B
Latitude:62.40934712
Longitude:-143.0982457
Datum:NAD83
Date Sampled:1993-00-00
Sample Type 1:Tephra Fall
Sample Type 2:Agglutinate
Field Lithology:Basaltic Andesite
Text Description:
Agglutinate from large blocks that have fallen from higher up section at Site 7. This sample is from the contact between red scoriaceous material and gray massive material. Fine-grained, holocrystalline, seriate porphyritic with a matrix of mesostasis, opaque, plagioclase and alteration. Plagioclase phenocrysts (An45-An62) are up to 1 mm, some display sieve textured zones or rarely oscillatory zoning, and normal zoning is common. Orthopyroxene phenocrysts are up to 0.8 mm and frequently display clinopyroxene rims. Clinopyroxene phenocrysts are up to 0.5 mm. An altered phase, up to 0.7 mm, is present.
