Text Description:
Subvertical dike trending N20W and intruding into silicic material from Dome A at Site 2. Fine-grained, seriate, intergranular, altered, vesicular, holocrystalline with a matrix of mesostasis, opaque, feldspar, clinopyroxene, calcite alteration and other alteration. Plagioclase phenocrysts (An19-An56) are 1.3 - 0.05 mm; larger grains have sieve textured cores, complex zoning, embayments, and one grain has strongly poikilitic olivine or clinopyroxene. Orthopyroxene phenocrysts are 0.3 - 0.05 mm, subhedral, some have clinopyroxene rims and/or melt inclusions. Clinopyroxene phenocrysts are 0.55 - 0.5 mm.
