Text Description:
Sample of margin of aplite dike on St. George Island. The dike is intrusive into peridotite with a gradual transition, over less than one yard, from a very fine-grained chilled margin to a medium-grained, granular central portion. The margin is about 30 feet, the width of the total intrusion about 1,300 feet.
