Text Description:
Bowlder (not in place) from floor of Katmai crater. Considerably altered basalt of high olivine content, but the olivines have been wholly replaced by fibrous aggregates of some mineral of a dingy yellowish-green color and moderate birefringence, probably a chlorite. The feldspars, on the other hand, look perfectly fresh, and the grains of iron ore have not been oxidized.
