Text Description: Sample from southwest flank 1150’ asl. Larger plagioclase phenocrysts than nearby lavas. Sparsely porphyritic basaltic andesite. Phenocrysts of plagioclase (10%, typically unreacted and 0.6 x 0.3 mm, but with sparse larger crystals which are spongy throughout with thin clear rims) and sparse clinopyroxene up to 0.3 mm diameter. Intersertal groundmass dominated by 80 micron long plagioclase laths.–– References: ![]() |
