Lost_Chicken64.05-141.8833333Unknown, Unknown< 2600000 ± 900000 phenocryst - FT; 1182; Zircon microphenocrysts and glass shards were dated by fission tracks. Zircon crystals contained abundant defects and the glass date of 1.72+/-0.31 Ma is much younger than the zircon. This is the maximum age estimage, obtained from zircon fission tracks. Lost Chicken Mine, at mile 69 of the Taylor Highway, east-central Alaska. Tephra samples collected from gold mine section above the road, on high terrace of Fortymile River, not from mining exposures below the road in the valley.
