Within frozen organic-rich silt near the top of a ~20 m, poorly exposed, placer mining cut. Tephra bed is reworked and 1.5 to 8 cm thick. Occurs significantly higher in section than where Old Crow tephra appears in a section ~30 m downstream.

Average age of two infrared stimulated luminescence ages on loess bracketing VT tephra at Halfway House.The Thistle Creek section is about 100 km south of Dawson City, Yukon Territory, Canada, in the south Klondike goldfields. It consists of a 10 m thick organic-rich silt sequence over gravel on a terrace 25 m above Thistle Creek on the south side of the valley. Coordinates from Westgate and others (2009); datum not provided, assumed to be NAD83. Coordinates for this site in Preece and others (2011), Jensen and others (2011), and Reyes and others (2010) vary slightly.
