Pale-white tephra that is 1 cm thick and occurs approximately 9 cm below the surface. Directly above the tephra is a 1-cm-thick peat and directly below the tephra is brown and tan mottled loess.

S851561.73-148.73Fontana, M. R. -1800--Small roadcut on the north side of the Glenn Highway, Alaska, at mile 68. One-m-thick exposure of loess that mantles stratified sands. Two tephra recorded at this exposure, both of which were sampled. See Fontana (1988) for detailed stratigraphy. Coordinates provided as degrees/minutes and converted to decimal degrees; datum not provided, assumed to be NAD83.
