Text Description:
Red-brown tephra that occurs approximately 146 cm below the surface. The tephra has a total thickness of 10 cm, with the upper 5 cm appearing orange-red and the basal 5 cm appearing darker brownish-red. The 1-cm-thick peat underlying this tephra was radiocarbon dated at 3170+/-170 yBP.

Seven tephra recorded in the stratigraphy at this small roadcut, one of which was a couplet and all of which were analyzed. See Fontana (1988) for detailed stratigraphy.
