Approximately 194 cm below the surface. Pale-white tephra that has a sharp contact with the overlying loess. The tephra is 1 cm thick, below which is 10 cm of loess that overlies the ice-contact stratified drift at the bottom of the section.

S85161.6-149.1Fontana, M. R. In the town of Palmer, Alaska, at the intersection of Beaver and Gloria streets. Two and a half m of loess exposed during foundation excavation for a housing development. Five tephra recorded in the stratigraphy at this location (one of which was a couplet), but only four were sampled. See Fontana (1988) for detailed stratigraphy. Coordinates provided as degrees/minutes and converted to decimal degrees; datum not provided, assumed to be NAD83. Approximately 194 cm below the surface.
