Pale-white tephra couplet that occurs approximately 60 cm below the surface. Exhibits the same field characterstics of sample number S851E. Twenty-four cm of gray and tan mottled loess underlies this tephra, at the base of which is a sharp contact with underlying bedded sand.

S85961.38-149.16Fontana, M. R. Roadcut approximately 5 km north of Palmer, Alaska, at 0.8 km on Farm Loop Road. The roadcut is on the west side of the road and is about 12 m long, with approximately 1 m of loess, tephra, and peat exposed and overlying bedded sand. Four tephra recorded in the stratigraphy at this location, one one of which was analyzed. See Fontana (1988) for detailed stratigraphy.
