Text Description: Average calculated from analyses of four individual samples from four different locations (see individual samples for description): individual samples 96JF8G, 96JF8H, 97EC18E1, 97EC18E2 (see Figure 14a in Carson 1998). Four to six cm of reddish brown to light reddish brown fine (0.5-1 mm pumiceous ash at the base, grading to coarse (1-3 mm) scoria at top. Varies from thinly bedded to massive. Cold_Bay_Regional_Tephra | 55.2 | -162.69998 | Carson, E. C. | < 6070 ± 340 14C; 975; Underlying organic material | Seven major tephra beds identified and correlated in the Cold Bay area, Alaska Peninsula, Alaska (see Carson 1998). Geochemical data of samples reported here are averages calculated from analyses of multiple tephra correlated across different stratigraphic locations in the area; see sample descriptions for individual samples that were used to calculate compositional averages of correlated tephra deposits. Deposition of these beds took place between 10,200 +/- 75 and 3600 +/- 140 radiocarbon years BP. Generic location selected in the Cold Bay area. | Average calculated from analyses of four individual samples from four different locations (see individual samples for description): individual samples 96JF8G, 96JF8H, 97EC18E1, 97EC18E2 (see Figure 14a in Carson 1998).
