SAMPLE INFO : 85CNS33
Sample ID:85CNS33
Station ID:85CNS33
Latitude:61.248547
Longitude:-152.266615
Datum:NAD83
Date Sampled:1985-01-01
Sample Type 1:Lava
Text Description:
Lava from ancestral Crater Peak Peak (proto-Crater Peak of Nye and Turner (1990)) from package of flows inset against ancestral Mt. Spurr lavas west of Crater Peak. Sample PCP-B01 of Nye and Turner (1990). Cliffy ancestral Crater Peak section. Lava w/ large (to 5mm) cpx megacrysts and smaller (~1mm) equant equigranular plagioclase. This sample contains more cpx (to 30%) than S27-29, 31, 32. Also contains hornblende, often as armor on cpx megacrysts. Analysis previously reported by Nye and others (1995, U.S. Geological Survey Bulletin 2139, p. 119-128.); data in this report has updated ICP/MS values.

General Mineralogy Description:
Lava w/ large (to 5mm) cpx megacrysts and smaller (~1mm) equant equigranular plagioclase. This sample contains more cpx (to 30%) than S27-29, 31,32. Also contains hornblende, often as armor on cpx megacrysts.
