Text Description: Average composition of samples from Lone Spruce Pond (UA1966) and the soil pit near Cascade Lake (Kathan 2006) (UA1779=1974). The tephra layer appears to be widespread across the landscape in the Ahklun Mountains, directly below the surface organic mat and capping a buried A/B soil horizon. It is typically separated from the underlying Aniakchak tephra by centimeters to decimeters of loess or other nonvolcanic sediment.
