South flank of Gareloi Volcano, showing south summit crater, breached to south, and 1980s-era basalt flows. Much of the flank is covered by 1929 pyroclastics, into which gullies have eroded. Hydrothermally altered area along summit crater rim is the site of persistent fumarolic activity.
