Matrix of the lower part of the map unit Peregrine glaciovolcanic deposits (see http://doi.org/10.14509/29718 for additional details).  The matrix consists of fragmented, variably oxidized, monolitholgic debris, including loose cm-sized individual pyroxene crystals, that we believe formed during eruption into water impounded beneath glacial ice.
