View of the southern end of Bogoslof Island. The pinnacle is Castle Rock, remnant of a lava dome extruded during the 1796-1804 eruption of Bogoslof volcano. The sloping terrace is an accumulation of tephra deposits. Bogoslof Island is the emergent summit of a submarine stratovolcano that rises 6000 feet from the floor of the Bering Sea. This image is one of three that make up the panorama of image #108451.
