* Reported values are averages of two duplicate analyses for each sample. Samples are of bulk juvenile tephra unless otherwise noted. 2-SE uncertainties (std. error from the reproducibility of analyses of standards) are reported for sample AL09-03PL, and are representative for all analyses. *
6031: Representative Driftwood Pumice mineral analyses
* Major oxide compositions for major mineral populations are reported as wt % and mineral stoichiometry (normalized to oxygen anions). Mineral populations were determined based on > 200 analyses in 50-100 grains via SEM-EDS, and representative type grains were subsequently re-analyzed by EPMA. See cells BEI-1 to CE-11 for comparison between SEM-EDS and EPMA measurements for representative mineral types. Unless otherwise specified, all analyzed minerals are individual phenocrysts surrounded by matrix glass. Complete lists of all mineral analyses for SEM-EDS and EPMA are below. *

* Major oxide compositions for matrix glasses are reported as wt %, with SEM-EDS measurements having been corrected for alkali-loss via EPMA measurements (see text and online supplemental material). A total of 111 Driftwood Pumice glasses measurements were analyzed via SEM-EDS, and 15 glass measurements were made by EPMA. See Appendix Table 5 for uncorrected SEM-EDS measurements. See cells AI-1 to AW-11 for comparison between SEM-EDS (alkali-loss corrected) and EPMA measurements. *
6051: Uncorrected SEM-EDS Glass Compositions
* Major oxide compositions for matrix glasses are reported as wt %. The measurements in this table are original SEM-EDS analyses, which have NOT been corrected for alkali-loss via EPMA measurements (see text and online supplemental material). A total of 111 Driftwood Pumice glasses measurements were analyzed via SEM-EDS, and 15 glass measurements were made by EPMA. See Appendix Table 4 for alkali-loss corrected SEM-EDS measurements. See cells AI-1 to AW-11 for comparison between SEM-EDS (uncorrected) and EPMA measurements. *
