Low-level unrest continues at Cleveland volcano. No activity observed in cloudy satellite images over the past day. During the past 12 hours, a few small local earthquakes were observed on the two seismic stations located on Chuginadak Island. With only two stations, it is not possible to accurately locate earthquakes but there is a possibility that these events are associated with the volcano. In the past, similar earthquakes have preceded eruptive activity at Cleveland within days to a week. No explosive activity has been observed in seismic or infrasound data over the past day.

Cleveland volcano is monitored by only two seismic stations, which restricts AVO's ability to detect precursory unrest that may lead to an explosive eruption. Rapid detection of an ash-producing eruption may be possible using a combination of seismic, infrasound, lightning, and satellite data.
