AVO VOLCANO ACTIVITY NOTIFICATION

ALASKA VOLCANO OBSERVATORY DAILY UPDATE
U.S. Geological Survey
Thursday, August 6, 2015, 10:39 AM AKDT (Thursday, August 6, 2015, 18:39 UTC)

CLEVELAND VOLCANO (VNUM #311240)
52°49'20" N 169°56'42" W, Summit Elevation 5676 ft (1730 m)
Current Volcano Alert Level: WATCH
Current Aviation Color Code: ORANGE

Slightly elevated surface temperatures at the summit of the volcano were observed in one satellite image over the past 24 hours. Web camera images today obscured by clouds. Nothing of note has been evident in seismic data over the past day and the field crew working in the area has no new reports on unrest at Cleveland.

SHISHALDIN VOLCANO (VNUM #311360)
54°45'19" N 163°58'16" W, Summit Elevation 9373 ft (2857 m)
Current Volcano Alert Level: WATCH
Current Aviation Color Code: ORANGE

Low-level eruptive activity within the summit crater continues. Seismicity remains above background and has changed little over the past day. Elevated surface temperatures at the summit were observed in a few satellite images over the past 24 hours. A persistent steam/gas plume has been evident in occasional clear web camera images over the past day.

OTHER ALASKA VOLCANOES

Other Alaska volcanoes show no signs of significant unrest: http://www.avo.alaska.edu/activity/

AVO scientists conduct daily checks of earthquake activity at all seismically-monitored volcanoes, examine web camera and satellite images for evidence of airborne ash and elevated surface temperatures, and consult other monitoring data as needed.
