ALASKA VOLCANO OBSERVATORY DAILY UPDATE
U.S. Geological Survey

VENIAMINOF VOLCANO
(VNUM #312070)
56°11'52" N 159°23'35" W,
Summit Elevation 8225 ft (2507 m)
Current Volcano Alert Level: WATCH
Current Aviation Color Code:
ORANGE
Seismicity associated with the ongoing eruption of Veniaminof Volcano is now characterized by nearly continuous gradually fluctuating tremor. This level of seismic activity may be indicative of more or less continuous low-level ash emission and probable lava effusion. Satellite images of the volcano over the past 24 hours have shown prominent thermal signals at the intracaldera cone. Web camera views from Perryville this morning have shown a slightly more robust ash plume than usual, extending east-southeast beyond the caldera rim. If north-northwesterly winds persist, and continuous ash emissions continue, it is possible but not certain that trace amounts of ash fall (<1/32 inch) could occur on areas downwind of the volcano, including the communities of Perryville and Chignik Lake. The amount of ash fall would very minimal, and might not be noticeable.
CLEVELAND VOLCANO
(VNUM #311240)
52°49'20" N 169°56'42" W,
Summit Elevation 5676 ft (1730 m)
Current Volcano Alert Level: ADVISORY
Current Aviation Color Code:
YELLOW
No anomalous activity at Cleveland Volcano was observed in satellite imagery during the past 24 hours. AVO has received no other reports of activity at the volcano.
