AVO VOLCANO ACTIVITY NOTIFICATION

ALASKA VOLCANO OBSERVATORY DAILY UPDATE
U.S. Geological Survey
Thursday, August 22, 2013, 11:55 AM AKDT (Thursday, August 22, 2013, 19:55 UTC)

VENIAMINOF VOLCANO (VNUM #312070)
56°11'52" N 159°23'35" W, Summit Elevation 8225 ft (2507 m)
Current Volcano Alert Level: WATCH
Current Aviation Color Code: ORANGE

Seismic activity at the intracaldera cone has remained at low levels over the past 24 hours. Episodic bursts of tremor have characterized the seismicity and these bursts may be correlative with short-lived periods of minor ash emission. The volcano has been obscured by clouds in web camera views from Perryville and elevated surface temperatures have not been observed in satellite data, probably because of cloud cover. AVO has received no reports of unrest, explosions, or ash emissions from local observers or passing pilots.

CLEVELAND VOLCANO (VNUM #311240)
52°49'20" N 169°56'42" W, Summit Elevation 5676 ft (1730 m)
Current Volcano Alert Level: ADVISORY
Current Aviation Color Code: YELLOW

No anomalous activity at Cleveland was observed in satellite imagery during the last 24 hours. AVO has received no other reports of activity at the volcano.
