53°55'38" N 168°2'4" W, Summit Elevation 492 ft (150 m)
Current Volcano Alert Level: WATCH
Current Aviation Color Code: ORANGE

Strong continuous seismic activity started abruptly at about 10:40 UTC 12/22 (01:40 AKST), as detected on stations at nearby islands, and is currently ongoing. No eruption cloud is visible in satellite images, nor has ash-cloud related lightning been detected. The signal is likely related to eruptive activity at the volcano, but no ash cloud is being produced.

AVO has no ground-based volcano monitoring equipment on Bogoslof volcano. We will monitor satellite images and data from distant seismic and infrasound instruments for indications of significant activity.
