AVO VOLCANO ACTIVITY NOTIFICATION

ALASKA VOLCANO OBSERVATORY STATUS REPORT
U.S. Geological Survey
Tuesday, September 22, 2009, 12:58 PM AKDT (Tuesday, September 22, 2009, 20:58 UTC)

REDOUBT VOLCANO (VNUM #313030)
60°29'7" N 152°44'38" W, Summit Elevation 10197 ft (3108 m)
Current Volcano Alert Level: ADVISORY
Current Aviation Color Code: YELLOW

No unusual activity has been observed at Redoubt during the past 24 hours. Satellite and web cam views were partly cloudy today. The likelihood of a dome collapse continues to diminish over time. A field crew is visiting Redoubt today to make geological observations and instrument repairs, weather permitting.

In the unlikely event of a major dome collapse, significant ash production, hot block-and-ash flows, and flooding in the Drift River valley could all result.

AVO continuously monitors Redoubt with an alarm system that alerts on-call staff of potential unrest.

SHISHALDIN VOLCANO (VNUM #311360)
54°45'19" N 163°58'16" W, Summit Elevation 9373 ft (2857 m)
Current Volcano Alert Level: ADVISORY
Current Aviation Color Code: YELLOW

Seismic activity at Shishaldin remains low. Partly cloudy satellite views showed nothing unusual today. Web cam views were cloudy.
