AVO VOLCANO ACTIVITY NOTIFICATION

ALASKA VOLCANO OBSERVATORY STATUS REPORT
U.S. Geological Survey
Wednesday, July 22, 2009, 1:37 PM AKDT (Wednesday, July 22, 2009, 21:37 UTC)

REDOUBT VOLCANO (VNUM #313030)
60°29'7" N 152°44'38" W, Summit Elevation 10197 ft (3108 m)
Current Volcano Alert Level: ADVISORY
Current Aviation Color Code: YELLOW

No significant changes have been observed at Redoubt volcano over the past 24 hours. Seismicity continues to be low, with wind providing the dominant seismic signal at several stations. Clouds have obscured images from both satellites and webcams. The 2009 lava dome remains potentially unstable, and its collapse would likely result in significant ash production, block and ash flows, and flooding in the Drift River valley. AVO continues to closely monitor Redoubt's activity.

SHISHALDIN VOLCANO (VNUM #311360)
54°45'19" N 163°58'16" W, Summit Elevation 9373 ft (2857 m)
Current Volcano Alert Level: ADVISORY
Current Aviation Color Code: YELLOW

Cloudy weather has obscured recent satellite images of Shishaldin. Minor steaming may continue, which is typical behavior for this volcano. Seismic and deformation data do not show anything abnormal. AVO will continue to carefully monitor activity at Shishaldin.
