ALASKA VOLCANO OBSERVATORY STATUS REPORT
U.S. Geological Survey
Saturday, July 11, 2009, 1:11 PM AKDT (Saturday, July 11, 2009, 21:11 UTC)
REDOUBT VOLCANO
(VNUM #313030)
60°29'7" N 152°44'38" W,
Summit Elevation 10197 ft (3108 m)
Current Volcano Alert Level: ADVISORY
Current Aviation Color Code:
YELLOW
No significant changes have been observed at Redoubt Volcano over the past 24 hours. Seismicity at the volcano is slightly above background and web camera views show continued steaming from the lava dome. A major dome collapse event is still a possibility and would likely result in significant ash production, with ash plumes possibly rising to aircraft flight levels, hot block and ash flows, and flooding in the Drift River valley.
SHISHALDIN VOLCANO
(VNUM #311360)
54°45'19" N 163°58'16" W,
Summit Elevation 9373 ft (2857 m)
Current Volcano Alert Level: ADVISORY
Current Aviation Color Code:
YELLOW
A thermal anomaly persists in the summit crater and was observed in satellite images today. Seismic activity is low and shows little change from background levels over the past 24 hours. AVO has received no new reports of steaming or other types of activity at Shishaldin Volcano.
CLEVELAND VOLCANO
(VNUM #311240)
52°49'20" N 169°56'42" W,
Summit Elevation 5676 ft (1730 m)
Current Volcano Alert Level: ADVISORY
Current Aviation Color Code:
YELLOW
AVO has observed no further activity at Cleveland since the small eruption on June 25. Clouds have obscured views of the volcano in satellite and web camera images today and AVO has received no reports of activity from pilots or boats in the region.
