AVO VOLCANO ACTIVITY NOTIFICATION

ALASKA VOLCANO OBSERVATORY STATUS REPORT
U.S. Geological Survey
Saturday, April 11, 2009, 1:08 PM AKDT (Saturday, April 11, 2009, 21:08 UTC)

REDOUBT VOLCANO (VNUM #313030)
60°29'7" N 152°44'38" W, Summit Elevation 10197 ft (3108 m)
Current Volcano Alert Level: WATCH
Current Aviation Color Code: ORANGE

The eruption of Redoubt volcano continues. Seismic and satellite data over the past day indicate continued lava dome growth. Web camera images this morning show a vigorous steam plume. This plume may contain small amounts of ash, though no ash has been detected in radar. Satellite data indicate plume is extending northwest of volcano at altitudes < 20,000'.

Additional significant explosive events with accompanying ash clouds, ash fall, and mudflows are possible and can occur with little or no warning. AVO will maintain 24/7 operations in order to quickly detect renewed significant explosive activity and other hazardous phenomena.

Please see the National Weather Service Redoubt coordination page http://pafc.arh.noaa.gov/volcano.php for the latest ash fall information.

CLEVELAND VOLCANO (VNUM #311240)
52°49'20" N 169°56'42" W, Summit Elevation 5676 ft (1730 m)
Current Volcano Alert Level: ADVISORY
Current Aviation Color Code: YELLOW

AVO has received no new reports of activity at Cleveland in the past day. Most satellite views of the volcano have been obscured by clouds.
