During the past week, no additional eruptive activity was noted at Mount Cleveland in the central Aleutian Islands. On May 25, pilots had reported a single burst of ash rising to an estimated 35,000 ft ASL.
US Fish and Wildlife personnel in Adak report seeing a steam plume over Kanaga Volcano on Tuesday. Poor weather prevented additional observations during the remainder of the week. AVO received no pilot reports of continuing eruptive activity.
Residents of Port Heiden were able to see Veniaminof Volcano on Thursday and reported that there was no plume over the summit caldera. AVO received no pilot reports of continuing eruptive activity.
COOK INLET VOLCANOES
Seismicity at Spurr, Augustine, Redoubt and Iliamna
volcanoes remains at normal levels.
The Alaska Volcano Observatory continues to seismically
monitor Spurr, Augustine, Redoubt and Iliamna volcanoes. We
maintain a computerized alarm system that is capable of
notifying AVO seismologists during non business hours should
unusual seismic activity occur.
