
OMI satellite image from August 12 at ~2300 UTC (3:00 pm AKDT) showing the sulfur dioxide cloud from the August 7 eruption of Kasatochi volcano. Kasatochi is about 1100 miles from Anchorage and this cloud has been transiting the North Pacific for the past five days. This cloud shows the volcanic gas cloud at an altitude of 35,000 to 40,000 ft.Picture Date: August 12, 2008
