OMI composite image from NOAA showing the extent of the sulfur dioxide gas cloud from the eruption of Okmok Volcano imaged at about 12:17PM AKDT on July 15, 2008. The large red mass is from the main explosive phase on 12 July, 2008. The image also shows a small sulfur dioxide plume extending east of the volcano at the time of the image. Since this is an experimental, auto-generated mosaic, this composite image mistakenly includes portions of the sulfur dioxide cloud imaged on July 14 to the north and west of the red elongated clouds imaged on July 15.Picture Date: July 15, 2008 UTC
