Observers in Port Heiden and Perryville could see Veniaminof early this week and reported that no steam or ash clouds were visible above the volcano. Poor weather conditions for the past several days have obscured the volcano from ground and satellite view.
Eruptive activity continued this week at Kanaga Volcano. Emissions of steam and minor amounts of ash were observed last weekend. A shift in wind direction produced a light ashfall in nearby Adak last Saturday and temporarily disrupted air traffic to Adak on Monday. Poor weather has obscured the volcano for the past several days.
